On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we are pleased to share an important leadership update for the 2026–2027 school year.

Following a thoughtful and strategic planning process, the Board has appointed Jessica Ross as Havern’s next Head of School. Jessica, who currently serves as Associate Head of Enrollment & Educational Programs, will assume the role effective July 1, 2026. At the same time, Molly Buttitta will transition from Head of School to the role of Executive Director of Havern Center.

This leadership structure is the result of intentional conversations about Havern’s future and the evolving needs of our school and broader organization. Over the past year, the Board has engaged in strategic discussions focused on sustaining academic excellence, strengthening enrollment and community partnerships, and ensuring long-term operational and facilities planning. Through this process, it became clear that Havern is best positioned for the future with a leadership model that allows focused attention on both the educational program and the operational stewardship of our campus.

Since 2018, Havern Center has grown significantly in scope and complexity. What began as a mission-aligned extension now includes building acquisition and tenant management, the expansion of a comprehensive testing center, and public-private partnerships such as BOCES collaboration and Specialty School status. These additions have expanded the Head of School role well beyond traditional independent school responsibilities. This transition reflects the Board’s recognition of that growth and builds on several years of strategic planning focused on sustainability, mission alignment, and long-term success.

Jessica emerged as the right leader to guide Havern’s academic and community vision at this moment. During her time at Havern, she has demonstrated deep commitment to our mission, strong enrollment leadership, and a collaborative approach that supports students, faculty, and families alike. Her experience in educational leadership and community engagement, combined with her understanding of Havern’s culture and program, positions her well to lead the school into its next chapter.

Molly’s transition to the Executive Director of Havern Center reflects both her strengths and Havern’s strategic priorities. In this role, she will oversee operations and lead long-term facilities planning and sustainability initiatives, ensuring that our physical campus and organizational infrastructure continue to support our mission for years to come. Her deep institutional knowledge, operational expertise, and steady leadership will remain a vital asset to Havern.

This decision was made with great care and confidence. The Board is grateful for the partnership of both Jessica and Molly throughout this planning process and for their shared commitment to a thoughtful and seamless transition.

Together, Jessica and Molly will continue to strengthen Havern’s vibrant and supportive community while positioning the school for sustained growth and long-term success.

We look forward to the year ahead and to working together as we enter this next chapter for Havern.

Warmly,

Marie Hart
