Employee Classification: ExemptThis position is for a Physical Education Teacher at Havern School, serving students with learning disabilities. We follow a self-contained intervention model, with the teachers responsible for teaching all subject areas (reading, writing, math, science, and social studies). Differentiated instruction is delivered in small and large group format. This is a ten month, 1.0 FTE position. Starting salary range for this position is $48,000-$55,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
Roles and responsibilities:
Teach Physical Education to students in lower and middle school, as well as develop lesson plans.
Develop physical education program curricula in coordination with the Associate Head of School.
Create a cohesive and inclusive learning environment for our students where student-centered problem solving remains a focus.
Develop an appreciation of physical education as well as the ability to develop portfolios to pursue further studies for your students.
Teach health education classes or other subjects as they arise.
Maintain an orderly classroom environment and storage spaces by managing materials and student projects.
Generate assignments and activities to promote learning in a creative manner.
Communicate with students, parents and teachers in a professional and collaborative manner.
Lead the student athletes toward activities that display their talents, reflects their perspective, and broadens their understanding.
Teach kindergarten through 8th grade physical education and motor skills in a developmentally appropriate and engaging way.
Complete progress monitoring reports.
Supervise students at recess and lunch, as needed.
Flexible, solution-oriented, and open-minded in a dynamic school environment.
Assist as a second support teacher during other classes.
Attend school functions, meetings, and trainings.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Competencies:
Bachelor’s degree in physical education or similar, preferred

Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong organizational skills
Experience in curriculum development, collaborative planning and team teaching

Havern School seeks a part-time Small Group Teacher to teach three middle school groups a language arts, reading comprehension, and math from 8 am -12 pm on M-F. This role serves middle school students (6-8) within our small-group model, emphasizing individualized instruction, flexibility, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
Responsibilities
Plan, deliver, and adjust small-group lessons in:
Structured Literacy — foundational and advanced decoding/encoding, fluency, vocabulary, and written expression aligned with evidence-based practice
Reading Comprehension — strategy instruction, text structure, vocabulary, close reading
Math — concept development, problem solving, and skill fluency using multisensory methods
Use data (screeners, progress monitoring, work samples) to differentiate instruction and update groupings or goals as needed.
Collaborate with teachers and therapists to align supports and ensure smooth student transitions.
Communicate regularly with families via conferences, phone, our messaging platform, and email.
Maintain student notes, anecdotal records, and assessments; contribute to progress reports (October, February, May).
Lead or participate in parent–teacher–student conferences.
Maintain an organized, professional learning space equipped for small-group instruction.
Attend meetings as needed.
Engage in professional development; remain current on research and best practices for neurodiverse learners.
Support admissions through classroom visits/observations and help promote enrollment internally and externally.
Uphold and model Havern School’s mission, values, and community norms.

Qualifications & Competencies
Bachelor’s degree in Elementary or Special Education or related field (Master’s preferred).
Training/experience with evidence-based literacy (e.g., Structured Literacy/Orton–Gillingham/Wilson/Barton or similar) strongly preferred.
Experience teaching reading comprehension and/or math in small groups; middle school experience preferred.
Commitment to the mission and philosophy of Havern School and to strengths-based, student-centered practice.
Sensitivity to the intellectual, physical, and emotional needs of neurodivergent students.
Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills.
Experience with collaborative planning, curriculum adaptation, and team teaching.
Comfort teaching multiple grade levels and adjusting plans based on data and team input.
Flexible, solution-oriented, and open-minded in a dynamic school environment.
Belief in each learner’s capacity to grow with the right instruction and support.
This is a .5 FTE, part-time EXEMPT position with a starting salary of $25,000. Salary is negotiable based on experience and/or additional qualifications.

One-on-One BT will provide behavioral and instructional support for a student in our K - 5th program with an autism diagnosis or similar behavior challenges. The BT will implement programming and behavior intervention based on the student’s individualized plan created by the student’s classroom teacher and BCBA. The one-on-one RBT will work mainly with one student, but also support all students in the classroom at times.Responsibilities
Work 7:45 am -3:45 pm Monday - Friday
Implement both skill acquisition programming and maladaptive behavior intervention to a student in a K-5th autism classroom and small groups.
Know the student’s intervention plan and implement behavior responses throughout the day
Provide support to classroom teachers when student is struggling and needs extra support with academic work
Provide direction based on behavior intervention plans when new team members come on board
Collect consistent data on student’s behavior or academic goals
Regular meetings with BCBA and Classroom teacher to communicate challenges, progress and ideas
Complete documentation by deadlines including but not limited to data collection, client documentation, etc.
Create visuals or instructional materials for student at BCBA, or teacher’s, request
Follow all ASD program and Havern policies
Maintain a positive attitude and supportive work environment
Qualifications and Competencies
High School Diploma
Bachelor’s degree preferred
At least 18 years old
Willingness to complete Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) training
Preferred at least 1 year working as an RBT OR similar position implementing behavior intervention with children 5-10 years old
Preferred 1 year working in a school setting
Stellar written and verbal communication skills
Professional, excellent with taking feedback and applying it, strong work ethic
Works well in a fast-paced environment
Ability to adjust energy level based on the environment

Qualifications and Competencies
High School Diploma
Willingness to become CDE licensed with Substitute license
Bachelor’s degree preferred
At least 18 years old
Current Registered Behavior Technician certification in good standing with BACB
At least 6 months working as an RBT implementing behavior intervention with children 5-12 years old
Preferred 1 year working in a school setting

This position runs 10 months of the year with a 12 month contract. This is a full-time EXEMPT position. Annual salary range 36,000-39,000/ year.
