Job Title: Lower School Special Education Teacher

Employee Classification: ExemptHavern School is looking for special education teachers in our Lower School. We serve students with learning disabilities in multi-grade classrooms. Our lower school encompasses students in kindergarten through 5th grade. Specific classroom assignments will be dependent on enrollment as well as teacher experience, training, and expertise. We follow a self-contained intervention model, with the teachers responsible for teaching all subject areas (reading, writing, math, science, and social studies). Differentiated instruction is delivered in a small group format.
Responsibilities:
Plan, deliver, and amend as necessary the instructional programs
Work closely with other teachers and other colleagues to ensure continuity within the grade level and from grade to grade
Build students’ confidence and self-esteem as you come to know them as learners and individuals
Maintain a classroom that is orderly, organized, and equipped to meet the needs of the program and students, and present a professional appearance to the community
Communicate regularly with families using school-approved tools (email/phone/conferences/Class Dojo)
Maintain student notes, anecdotal records, observations, work samples, and any appropriate assessments
Complete student progress reports three times annually, in October, February, and May
Assume responsibility for organizing, scheduling, and leading parent-teacher conferences at a minimum of two times annually
Document reports, discipline, student health, and other professional correspondence as appropriate
Attend faculty meetings and other team or school-wide meetings as needed
Take advantage of professional development opportunities and remain current on educational research and best practices
Engage in self-assessment and work towards professional goals and professional growth
Play an active role in the admissions process through classroom visits, observations, and events
Participate fully in the life of the school by contributing to and attending school events, supporting advancement/development efforts, and being a representative of the school
Promote enrollment for the school internally and externally
Support the school and its leadership
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Competencies:
Bachelor’s degree in special education, Master’s degree preferred
Specific training and experience in the area of learning disabilities, ADHD, and autism spectrum disorder
Commitment to mission and philosophy of Havern School
Sensitivity to intellectual, physical, and emotional needs of students
Excellent verbal, written communication skills and strong organizational and management skills
Experience in curriculum development, collaborative planning and team teaching
Belief in each child’s individual’s ability and potential to learn and succeed
Growth mindset with a desire to grow and expand the classroom opportunities
Starting Salary: $48,000-65,000. This is a full-time, EXEMPT, 10-month position following the Havern School academic calendar. Salary is paid over 12 months and is negotiable based on experience and/or additional qualifications.

Lead RBT’s will provide behavioral and instructional support across multiple classrooms to k-5th grade students with an autism diagnosis or similar behavior challenges. The Lead RBT will implement programming and behavior intervention based on the student’s individualized plan created by the student’s classroom teacher and BCBA. The Lead RBT will work with a variety of students across all grades and skill levels.
Responsibilities
● Work 7:45am -3:45pm Monday - Friday
● Implement both skill acquisition programming and maladaptive behavior intervention to students’ kindergarten through 5th grade.
● Know student intervention plans and implement behavior intervention plans throughout the day with fidelity ● Provide support to students that are working on learning to learn skills within the classroom
● Provide modeling of behavior intervention plans when needed with new team members or new interventions
● Collect consistent data on student’s behavior or academic goals as delegated
● Regular meetings with BCBA to discuss challenges, progress and ideas to increase success in the classroom
● Transfer paper data into electronic spreadsheet for students
● Complete documentation by deadlines including but not limited to timesheets, client documentation, etc. ● Create visuals or instructional materials for students at BCBA, or teacher’s, request
● Follow all HAP and Havern policies ● Maintain a positive attitude and supportive work environment
Qualifications and Competencies
● High School Diploma
● Willingness to become CDE licensed with Substitute license
● Bachelor’s degree preferred
● At least 18 years old
● Current Registered Behavior Technician certification in good standing with BACB
● At least 6 months working as an RBT implementing behavior intervention with children 5-12 years old
● Preferred 1 year working in a school setting
● Stellar written and verbal communication skills
● Professional, excellent with taking feedback and applying it, strong work ethic
● Works well in a fast-paced environment
● Ability to adjust energy level based on the environment
● Passionate about making a difference!
