Job Title: Lower School Special Education Teacher

Supervisor’s Title: Head of School
Employee Classification: ExemptHavern School is looking for special education teachers in our Lower School. We serve students with learning disabilities in multi-grade classrooms. Our lower school encompasses students in kindergarten through 5th grade. Specific classroom assignments will be dependent on enrollment as well as teacher experience, training, and expertise. We follow a self-contained intervention model, with the teachers responsible for teaching all subject areas (reading, writing, math, science, and social studies). Differentiated instruction is delivered in a small group format.
Responsibilities:
Plan, deliver, and amend as necessary the instructional programs
Work closely with other teachers and other colleagues to ensure continuity within the grade level and from grade to grade
Build students’ confidence and self-esteem as you come to know them as learners and individuals
Maintain a classroom that is orderly, organized, and equipped to meet the needs of the program and students, and present a professional appearance to the community
Communicate regularly with families using school-approved tools (email/phone/conferences/Class Dojo)
Maintain student notes, anecdotal records, observations, work samples, and any appropriate assessments
Complete student progress reports three times annually, in October, February, and May
Assume responsibility for organizing, scheduling, and leading parent-teacher conferences at a minimum of two times annually
Document reports, discipline, student health, and other professional correspondence as appropriate
Attend faculty meetings and other team or school-wide meetings as needed
Take advantage of professional development opportunities and remain current on educational research and best practices
Engage in self-assessment and work towards professional goals and professional growth
Play an active role in the admissions process through classroom visits, observations, and events
Participate fully in the life of the school by contributing to and attending school events, supporting advancement/development efforts, and being a representative of the school
Promote enrollment for the school internally and externally
Support the school and its leadership

Qualifications and Competencies:
Bachelor’s degree in special education, Master’s degree preferred
Specific training and experience in the area of learning disabilities, ADHD, and autism spectrum disorder
Commitment to mission and philosophy of Havern School
Sensitivity to intellectual, physical, and emotional needs of students
Excellent verbal, written communication skills and strong organizational and management skills
Experience in curriculum development, collaborative planning and team teaching

The school Office Manager is the face of Havern and provides support to the school and staff. This includes answering phones, greeting visitors, managing the front office, maintaining student records, and assisting with various school-related tasks. Additionally, the Office Manager is responsible for supporting school administration. The ideal candidate will be organized, positive, efficient, punctual, and have excellent customer service skills.
General Duties
Answer phones and manage daily deliveries.
Greet visitors and provide them with information or direct them to the appropriate person.
Provide administrative support to all staff—printing, mailings, etc.
Maintain student records in the FACTS system, Alma, and in student files.
Maintain up-to-date alumni files.
Coordinate onboarding for new employees and support ongoing efforts to improve and streamline administrative processes.
Work closely with the Director of Finance to ensure all donation records are accurate, current, and up to date within FACTS.
Compile, prepare, and distribute annual tax acknowledgment and donation documentation to all donors in a timely and accurate manner.
Comfortable using Canva to make updates to existing materials.
Coordinate and distribute weekly school-wide family communications through the Friday Folder.
Manage enrollment for clubs, aftercare, and the NSCD Winter Program, including registration, tracking, and communication with families.
Work closely with the Director of Communications to update teacher skill descriptors for Fall, Winter, and Spring Progress Monitoring Reports, and assist with editing and preparing PMRs.
Oversee student attendance reporting and updates to class rosters.
Collect information for staff files, including annual emergency forms and PD hours.
Provides support for the smooth operation of all school events.
Support Risk Management, including maintaining updated red folders, records of fire and other emergency drills, and up-to-date relationships with local PD.
Manage office supplies and service/supply requests for copy machines.
Provide care to injured and/or sick children and contact parents as needed.
Manage medication intake, administration, and record-keeping according to our student medication policy and in consultation with our nurse consultant.
Be a valued resource for all teachers and employees.
Other duties as assigned.

One-on-One BT will provide behavioral and instructional support for a student in our K - 5th program with an autism diagnosis or similar behavior challenges. The BT will implement programming and behavior intervention based on the student’s individualized plan created by the student’s classroom teacher and BCBA. The one-on-one RBT will work mainly with one student, but also support all students in the classroom at times.Responsibilities
Work 7:45 am -3:45 pm Monday - Friday
Implement both skill acquisition programming and maladaptive behavior intervention to a student in a K-5th autism classroom and small groups.
Know the student’s intervention plan and implement behavior responses throughout the day
Provide support to classroom teachers when student is struggling and needs extra support with academic work
Provide direction based on behavior intervention plans when new team members come on board
Collect consistent data on student’s behavior or academic goals
Regular meetings with BCBA and Classroom teacher to communicate challenges, progress and ideas
