Demetria is a Colorado native who grew up in Denver's Park Hill neighborhood and has spent more than 20 years teaching across private, charter, and public schools in the metro area. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from New Mexico Highlands University and a Master's degree with a Reading Specialty from Regis University — the result of a lifelong passion for literacy and a deep belief in its power to open the world. Demetria comes from a family of educators, and her approach to teaching weaves together humor, music, and hard work to build curiosity and confidence in every student. Outside of school, she and her husband Ramón enjoy Colorado's mountains, live music festivals, fly fishing, hiking, and hot springs — often alongside a very full, very lively household of children, grandchildren, and beloved pets.
